A Gay Anthem
          Come on Out

Sharing a destiny.
2010 has been a remarkable year for the GLBT community. Like always, two steps forward and one step back, but this year, the steps forward have been a little stronger, the pace a little quicker. Even so, there is much to be done and a long way to go. Together, we can continue to fight for equal rights, for justice and equality. Join with us in celebrating and supporting, "Come on Out," a gay anthem dedicated to the realization of recognition, acceptance and redemption.

You Can Be a Part of this Unique and Exciting Project!

Weaving a Worldwide Web of Music

Hi. My name is Dan Speers and I am a writer, composer and poet.

I am honored and excitied to share with you this unique and personal adventure in creating a theme song that I fervently hope will bring together and bond the worldwide GBLT family.

Of course, this isn't up to me. Ultimately, the success of any work depends on the acceptance and approval of its intended audience. Read the lyrics, listen to the melody. Tell your friends about it. See if they embrace both the music and the concept.

It began with Pride . . .

If you come with us on this adventure, you will begin where I began, where the idea for a gay anthem was first conceived--at an annual Pride Parade this past June.

As a member of the Board of Directors of the Bisexual Resource Center in Boston, I was riding on our crowd-pleasing "Whatever floats your boat" float when I heard someone in the crowd yell, "I'm bi, too," and then, almost without pause, a second voice yelled, "Then come on out!"

That is the moment I felt the magic, the sudden euphoric realization that in those simple words was a poetic hook. These words became a line, the line a verse, and the lyrics to a song so striking and so compelling that the melody began to write itself.

Everyone who heard the song, loved it. A friend called it a gay anthem. Another commented that it would be fantastic if we could get people to sing it together at Prides and festivals and gay events. The magic of the song became unifying, bringing people together, creating a bond that sent chills down our spines.

An idea is born  . . .

I'm not sure who suggested it or who thought of it first, but it was so audacious, so mind-boggling, so challenging that we knew it would succeed. The idea?

We are going t create a musical mosaic, a worldwide tappestry of music. We are releasing the song so that artists, singers, groups and yes, even amateurs can create their own renditions, their own versions that they then link back to one central site.

Each rendition becomes a musical component of the tappestry just as we individually are all part of a larger family. We will connect the threads of the musical mosaic with ribbons of genre and style and artists.

So here we are. I have written the lyrics and composed the music, made a preliminary au capello recording, filed for copyright and registered the composition with BMI. And I've been on line, contacting friends and musicians to prepare, perform and link back their own versions.

If you join us . . .

Through the course of this offer, you will receive regular updates on the progress of the project, the performers who are participating from the very beginning to it's completion and all the stages in between!

You will also be the first to receive a downloadable version of the music: this may be a live version or recorded in the studio....depending how the project evolves. Plus, you will receive limited offers from the musicians themselves on private and special releases.

I am very happy to be sharing this process with you...join me on this journey today!
